A new full-day preschool program will be available to Anchorage School District (ASD) employees at Dr. Elthedra Davis Fairview Elementary School beginning August 14, 2026.

Kids' Corps, Inc. (KCI) will operate a full-day preschool classroom serving children ages 3 to 5 and will operate from August through May. The program will provide high-quality early learning and childcare for preschool-aged children while offering a convenient school-based option for eligible ASD employees.

Eligibility and Enrollment

This program is available to ASD employees. Priority enrollment will be given to employees in the following bargaining units:

• Public Employees Local 71, AFL-CIO (Custodians and Building Plant Operators)

• General Teamsters Union Local 959 (Food Service Employees)

• TOTEM Association of Educational Support Personnel

Kindergarten Readiness Focus

• Curriculum is designed to prepare children for success in kindergarten and beyond.
• Uses Creative Curriculum, a research-based curriculum widely used in early childhood programs.
• Learning experiences support literacy, math, science, problem-solving, language development, social-emotional growth and physical development.

Social-Emotional Learning Through Conscious Discipline

• KCI classrooms use Conscious Discipline, an evidence-based approach that teaches children:
  • Emotional regulation
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Positive relationships
  • Communication skills
  • Self-confidence and responsibility
